The AM Radio Show

Following on from the show…

After our advice section in our podcast I asked the presenters Amy and Michael, our producer Steph and head of technical Will if they had any advice for our listeners. And they came up with this:

“I was very nervous before coming to Uni but don’t worry, it’s seriously not as bad as you think!! For example I was really worried about getting lost and not being able to ask people where certain rooms are etc but on my first day I realised how supportive the University was like there were plenty of student union helpers around to ask questions to or who were just there to support you.” -Amy

“I would just tell Freshers not to worry about little and simple things like cooking as you will find that everyone is in the same boat and worried about the same things. I mean with cooking there is always pot noodles or pizza. Just whack things in the oven, simple.” -Michael

“OK, I found this out personally and I want to pass on my words of wisdom: do not, I repeat do not drink on an empty stomach, you will be sick. Trust me” -Steph

“I would just advise people not to be afraid of asking for help when you need it as nobody is scary here, they are all here for us and they really do actually want to help and give advice to students when they ask for it. Just be brave and ask!” -Will

I then went on to ask them if they’d share their funny stories with us:

“OK, well this is more embarrassing, there was a fancy dress party during Freshers Week so I thought it’d be a good idea to spray-dye my hair. But it turns out I completely missed my hair and got my bathroom titles all pink and sprayed half of my kneck pink too which later turned into a rash! Bloody typical.” -Amy

“So there was this one time where I had quite a few beverages in the local uni-pub and somebody, I won’t name names who dropped a chip in my drink and then I thought it’d be a great idea to stick my straw into the chip and drink from it. So yes I drank from a chip.” -Michael

“There was this one time during freshers that I lost my group and I started to walk home but then I realised I walked in completely the wrong direction and just wandered around Lincoln singing to myself until I finally found my way back to courts” -Will

“This is a tough one but this memory does stand out: one the first night I witnessed my flat-mate do 8 tequila shots in under a minute! Crazy girl!” -Steph
